The Gem Creole Saloon offers a new century twist on a historic space that first housed McMinnville’s original Gem Saloon in the 1800s. Featuring true-to-its-roots fresh local oysters, crawfish étoufée, gumbo, po’ boys, fried chicken, hush puppies and fresh baked biscuits. Organic and sustainable ingredients are sourced locally whenever possible. Willamette Valley wines, craft beers, local spirits and a large selection of whiskeys and cocktails, make the perfect excuse to come on in and stay awhile.

 

“Being a New Orleans native, creole places geographically located out of the south always make me raise my eyebrows. However, after trying several dishes here and coming away smiling, I had to serve up some stars. The chef really gets the complex fusion of French creole, Spanish and Caribbean spices that my grandmother mastered, and few except her can repeat. Simple food done well. Well done.
